Astana’s Young Chefs: Promoting Culinary Traditions and Healthy Eating

The Our Dastarkhan children’s art competition recently held its exhibition at the Al-Farabi Schoolchildren’s Palace in Astana, celebrating the upcoming Nauryz holiday by awarding ten winners and 11 laureates. Over 150 students from 20 schools took part in the competition, showcasing their artistic talents while highlighting national culinary traditions and promoting healthy eating habits.

The competition, which took place from November to January, aimed to educate children about the importance of maintaining a culture of healthy eating. Anar Dosmuhamet, the head of the methodological center of the Astana akimat, praised the participants for their impressive works, emphasizing the significance of instilling healthy eating habits in future generations.

Young artists utilized various artistic techniques such as still lifes featuring traditional dishes, paintings, watercolor works, and graphic drawings depicting family traditions. The exhibition was organized as part of Nestlé’s for Healthier Kids initiative, which has been promoting healthy nutrition in Kazakhstan for more than a decade through the Healthy Nutrition School program.

The competition not only provided a platform for young artists to showcase their talents but also raised awareness about the importance of healthy eating among children. By incorporating art and culture, the Our Dastarkhan competition successfully encouraged children to embrace healthier lifestyle choices and celebrate their national heritage.
