Ataoğlu’s Message for August 1st Social Resistance Day
Fikri Ataoğlu, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment, and Chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), recently shared a message in honor of August 1st Social Resistance Day.
In his statement, Ataoğlu emphasized the significance of August 1st as a day to commemorate the honorable past of the Turkish Cypriot people and their aspirations for the future. He described August 1st Social Resistance Day as a symbol of the freedom struggle that has been ongoing since the ancestors conquered the lands in 1571, leading to the establishment of the Turkish Resistance Organization in 1958 and the Security Forces Command in 1976.
Ataoğlu highlighted the unity and solidarity of the Turkish Cypriot people in the face of challenges throughout history, emphasizing their determination to preserve their identity and culture on the island. He recognized the sacrifices and struggles that have paved the way for the current freedom and security of the community, stressing the importance of unity and solidarity for a prosperous future.
As the Turkish Resistance Organization marks its 66th anniversary and the Security Forces Command celebrates its 48th anniversary, Ataoğlu expressed his gratitude to all the heroes who have contributed to the ongoing struggle. He called upon the community to maintain their spirit of social solidarity, believing that through unity, they can overcome any obstacles and achieve better days ahead.
