Attention Drivers: Over 4.2 Million Yet to Renew Their Licenses!

Urgent Reminder: Transition from Old Driver’s Licenses to New Documents by July 31, 2025
As of January 1, 2016, a new type of driver’s license has been implemented, but the deadline for replacing old licenses is fast approaching. Citizens are urged to renew their old driver’s licenses by July 31, 2025, to avoid invalidation of their driving privileges. Currently, there have been 31,643,355 applications for renewal, yet approximately 4,237,000 individuals continue to use the outdated licenses.
Deadline for Renewal
If individuals using the old type of driver’s license do not complete their renewal process by August 1, 2025, their licenses will be considered invalid. This poses significant implications for those who rely on their licenses for daily activities and transportation.
Upcoming Fee Increase
In a notable change, the fee for renewing old driver’s licenses will increase significantly after the deadline. Currently, the fee is just 15 pounds; however, after July 31, it will rise to 7,438 pounds for a Class B driver’s license. This means that renewing a license within the next few months could save drivers a substantial amount—7,423 pounds—if they act promptly.
