Avcılar Arbitration Committee Receives 5,000 Consumer Applications

The Avcılar Consumer Problems Arbitration Committee held its weekly meeting this week to oversee complaints regarding products under 66 thousand TL under the Consumer Protection Law. The meeting was chaired by Emine Başar, the Editor-in-Chief of the Avcılar District Governor’s Office, and attended by ITO Assembly Member Turan Kocaalp.
First, the committee examined applications that had been made through the district governor’s office or e-Government. However, some consumers who had been invited to the meeting with their products caught their attention due to complaints about their shoes. The consumers claimed that their shoes were making a noise, the seams were falling apart, and they had worn out very quickly.
The committee decided to examine each of the consumers’ products individually and even sent some of them to an expert to determine whether the issue was due to production or user error. It was the responsibility of the committee to decide whether the fault was caused by the consumer or the producer.
The Avcılar District Governor’s Office Editor-in-Chief, Emine Başar, stated that approximately 5 thousand applications had been finalized within a year, and the committee usually meets twice a month, depending on application density, to examine products and make a decision.
The Consumer Problems Arbitration Committee plays an essential role in protecting the rights of the consumers. It ensures that products and services are of good quality and that producers comply with consumer protection regulations. Consumers can apply to the committee for any product or service-related issues they may have. Overall, this committee serves as a bridge between consumers and producers and plays an essential role in maintaining a fair marketplace.
