Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan Meets with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Istanbul
Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Istanbul today to discuss comprehensive issues related to the two countries’ relations. Diplomatic sources reported that the meeting included discussions on various topics of mutual interest.
During the meeting, Minister Fidan emphasized the importance of concluding Turkey’s F-16 procurement process and clarified that the final decision on Sweden’s NATO membership process lies with the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
The two ministers also addressed the ongoing human tragedy in Gaza, with Minister Fidan expressing concerns about Israel’s increasing aggression and its potential threat to the entire region. He called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and urged uninterrupted humanitarian aid, as well as the commencement of negotiations for a two-state solution.
Furthermore, Minister Fidan emphasized Turkey’s stance on avoiding tension in the Black Sea and highlighted the country’s efforts to ensure the safe delivery of food products from Russia and Ukraine to global markets.
The meeting also involved discussions on the ongoing negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as regional issues concerning Syria and Iraq.
