Azerbaijan considers Brussels meeting productive and outcome-driven

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement regarding the tripartite summit that took place on July 12 between Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and the President of the European Union Council Charles Michel. The statement mentioned the significance of the meeting in Brussels, which had been on hold for 9 months due to various interventions and precondition attempts.

The meeting was said to be a good opportunity to focus on advancing normalization efforts, as the parties exchanged views on concrete steps towards peace agreements, border determination, and communication re-establishment. The statement also emphasized the importance of respecting the territorial integrity of states, particularly the internationally recognized territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

Furthermore, the summit addressed humanitarian issues towards post-conflict normalization, including the need to clarify the fate of missing persons and accelerate demining steps in affected areas. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared that the only way to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region is through the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia based on mutual recognition and respect for one another’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and international borders.

The European Council President also expressed his appreciation for the leaders’ efforts towards progressing the normalization of relations. The tripartite summit was seen as a step towards achieving lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus region. Azerbaijan reaffirmed its readiness to continue dialogues and mutual cooperation with international partners in this direction.
