Azerbaijan Honors Martyrs on 4th Anniversary of 2nd Karabakh War
Azerbaijan Commemorates Martyrs’ Memorial Day
Various events were held throughout Azerbaijan to commemorate “Martyrs’ Memorial Day” in honor of those who lost their lives during the 2nd Karabakh War.
On September 27, Azerbaijanis gathered at martyrs’ cemeteries across the country to pay their respects. At the 2nd Fahri Hiyaban martyrs’ cemetery in Baku, relatives of the fallen soldiers and citizens laid flowers on the graves and offered prayers. Many visitors were moved to tears as they remembered the sacrifices made by the martyrs.
The Minister of Defense, General Zakir Hasanov, also paid tribute to the martyrs by visiting the cemetery with his command delegation. The ceremony included the singing of the Azerbaijani National Anthem and a moment of silence at noon to honor the fallen soldiers.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev visited Victory Park in Baku, a park that is currently under construction. Aliyev placed flowers at the entrance of the park in memory of the martyrs who gave their lives during the war.
A total of 2,908 Azerbaijani soldiers were martyred during the 2nd Karabakh War, which began on September 27. In recognition of their sacrifices, this date has been declared as “Martyrs’ Memorial Day” in Azerbaijan. The events held throughout the country served as a poignant reminder of the bravery and dedication of those who fought for their country.
