Azerbaijan Supports Palestinian People at the Council of Extraordinary Foreign Ministers of the Islamic Cooperation Organization
Ceyhun Bayramov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, recently addressed the Council of Extraordinary Foreign Ministers of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. During his speech, Bayramov highlighted the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where many innocent lives have been lost and essential infrastructure has been destroyed. The region is facing severe shortages of food and water, causing great concern.
Bayramov stressed that the use of force resulting in civilian casualties is unacceptable and called for urgent action to end the suffering in Gaza. He emphasized the importance of upholding the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the use of force in accordance with international law.
The Minister also expressed support for a ceasefire as a crucial step towards achieving a sustainable peace process based on international law and addressing the legitimate demands of the Palestinian people. Azerbaijan stands behind the 2-state solution for the Palestinian issue and remains committed to supporting the Palestinian people.
In a show of solidarity, Azerbaijan has provided $2 million in aid to Palestine since 2023. Additionally, Bayramov announced that 15 students from Palestine will receive the “Haydar Aliyev International Education Scholarship”, and Azerbaijan has pledged to build schools with a capacity of 600 students in Nablus.
As tensions continue to escalate in the region, Azerbaijan reaffirms its unwavering support for the Palestinian people and its commitment to promoting peace and stability in the Middle East.
