Baklava: The Must-Have Holiday Dessert That Captivates All

Baklava: A Masterpiece on Holiday Tables
Baklava has become an essential sweet treat on holiday tables. This delicacy, known for its mastery and attention to detail, has been gaining popularity with its various varieties in recent years. Barış Çağdaş, a baklava master with decades of experience in Güzelyurt, recently shared his insights on the production of this exquisite dessert.
Çağdaş, who has been involved in baklava production for 30 years, highlighted the importance of meticulousness and dedication in this craft. He explained that advancements in technology have also impacted the production of baklava, with the latest machines now producing the dough untouched by human hands. This technological upgrade has enabled a faster, more efficient, and more precise production process.
While the machines play a significant role in production, the finishing touches are still done by the skilled hands of the masters, resulting in approximately 12 different types of baklava. According to Çağdaş, the dough is the key element in this sweet delight. He emphasized that only flour, eggs, butter, and water are used in the dough, while beet sugar and water are used for the syrup.
Moreover, Çağdaş stressed the importance of passing down the tradition of baklava-making to future generations. He highlighted the need for apprentices in recent years, expressing that they are open to teaching young people who are eager to learn. The mastery required in preparing this dessert is an integral part of Turkish culture and should be preserved and shared with generations to come.
Interestingly, Çağdaş mentioned that besides the classic dry baklava, cold baklava has also gained popularity in recent times. This delightful twist on the traditional recipe adds a refreshing element to the dessert, making it a hit among baklava enthusiasts.
As festive seasons approach, it is no surprise that baklava remains a highly preferred treat on special occasions. Baklava has become synonymous with celebrations, adding a touch of sweetness to joyous moments. With its rich and delicate flavors, baklava truly stands out as an exquisite masterpiece on holiday tables.
So, whether you enjoy the classic dry version or prefer the chilled variant, baklava continues to captivate taste buds and leave a lasting impression on dessert lovers worldwide.
