The 25 November Organizing Committee, formed by some political parties and non-governmental organizations, held a press conference in front of the Labor Department and Gender Equality Department.

At the press conference, the public was invited to the march to be held in Nicosia on November 25, within the framework of the “International Day of Elimination of Violence against Women”, and criticism was made against the Government, claiming that the Department of Gender Equality was not given due importance.

At the press conference, where the main theme was “We want to take our common struggle to the streets”, the Gender Equality Department’s failure to function fully was criticized.

In the speeches where it was stated that sufficient budget was not transferred to the Department and therefore the necessary work could not be carried out, it was argued that the acts of violence against women in the country were gaining momentum due to these impossibilities.

In the speeches, it was claimed that the individuals most affected by domestic violence are women and children, that Gender Equality lessons have been removed from school textbooks and that women are depicted as a being who swears allegiance, and that the fight against corruption will continue.
