A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of President Ersin Tatar, where the risks of a possible earthquake and the measures to be taken were discussed, and officials from relevant government departments and non-governmental organizations were present.

At the meeting; Information was exchanged on fault lines, earthquake maps, ground survey, the status of existing buildings, what should be implemented regarding new buildings, legal regulations, precautions to be taken before the earthquake and inspection.

In his speech at the meeting, President Ersin Tatar pointed out that it is not clear when and how the earthquake will occur, and said that an earthquake committee was established in the Presidency in 2021 and its work started.

Pointing out that the entire island would be affected in a possible major earthquake, President Tatar emphasized that he made an offer to Southern Cyprus to cooperate in the studies on the earthquake, but it was not accepted.

Stating that he is in favor of economic growth and development, but there are risks of construction without the necessary studies, President Tatar stated that he called for a meeting to hold a meeting on the earthquake in order to submit the report to the competent authorities.

Participants made opinions and suggestions about their areas of expertise, pointed out the importance of the meeting in which many stakeholders related to the earthquake took part, and thanked them for holding the meeting.
