President of the Republic Assembly, Ziya Öztürkler, gave a reception within the framework of the 15 November Republic Day celebration events. Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz also attended the reception.

Parliament Speaker Öztürkler and his wife Oya Öztürkler first accepted the guests.

After the moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, Vice President of the Republic of Turkey Cevdet Yılmaz made a speech.

“Happy Eid, our common holiday,” said Yılmaz, emphasizing that TRNC has been an element of peace and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean since the day it was founded.

Stating that the TRNC and Turkey continue their efforts shoulder to shoulder to achieve a fair, permanent and sustainable solution to the Cyprus issue, Yılmaz said, “We will continue our efforts to increase the visibility and recognition of the TRNC in the international arena.”

Stating that they are struggling for the welfare and development of the Turkish Cypriot people, Yılmaz said that projects for irrigation water are continuing and a wide range of projects are being carried out, from energy to social housing projects.

Yılmaz said, “Our aim in all these projects is only the welfare of the Turkish Cypriot people. It is our will to prepare a better future for our children and youth. “These projects aim to raise the living standards of the Turkish Cypriot people and accelerate the economic development of the TRNC,” he said.

In his speech at the reception, Parliament Speaker Ziya Öztürkler emphasized that the Republic, declared 41 years ago, was an important milestone in the struggle for independence.

Stating that the Turkish Cypriots will continue their determination to live independently and freely, to defend common interests, and to resist all solution attempts that are not fair and equal, Öztürkler continued his words as follows;

“In this sense, I would like to reiterate once again that we want a two-state solution, which we have determined as the new national policy together with our Motherland. We fully support the opinion of our President, Mr. Ersin Tatar, that “the federation book is now closed.”

Stating that the Turkish Cypriots’ determination to keep and glorify the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will continue, Öztürkler emphasized that they will continue to act together with the Motherland for national interests in the Blue and Sky Homeland.

Öztürkler said, “We will continue our efforts to bring the Turkish Cypriots to the level of modern civilization. Our Republic is the guarantee of our determination to live freely and independently. “We will be the defenders of the strong TRNC,” he said.
