In the early hours of the morning, an explosion occurred in an apartment in Famagusta, the cause of which has not yet been determined. After the explosion and the associated fire, a person who tried to escape by jumping from the building lost his life.

With the effect of the explosion, all the furniture in the apartment burned down, and some of the vehicles parked in the vicinity and some windows of the next apartment were damaged due to the materials ejected from the apartment.

According to the police statement, at around 01:30, first an explosion and then a fire occurred due to an undetected reason, in the flat number 89 on the eighth floor of Terrace Apartment located on Zafer Muharrem Street in Famagusta Sakarya Region.

During the fire, Şeref Uygun (E-33), who was staying in the flat, jumped from the eighth floor due to the fire and died at the scene.

The building was evacuated after the fire was extinguished by firefighters.

A large-scale investigation into the incident is ongoing.
