Burak Maviş, Secretary General of the Cyprus Turkish Teachers’ Union, made a written statement regarding the 2023-2024 academic year.
Claiming that the schools will open in about 2 weeks, but no physical work has been done on the school buildings yet, Maviş claimed that 78 percent of the schools will return to the construction site at certain times during the school year and that the children will be asked to consent to container classes.

Expressing that the Ministry does not share information about the number of container classrooms, Maviş said that schools should have a transition plan, studies should be carried out on issues such as ensuring the safety of children, occupational safety and school health, but the Minister of Education does not take responsibility for these issues and all problems should be addressed.
