Minister of Economy and Energy Olgun Amcaoğlu visited Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) President Gürsel Baran.
According to the statement made by the ATO, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Energy Şahap Aşıkoğlu and the Undersecretary of the TRNC Ankara Embassy Fatma Arşehit Soykan were also present.
In his speech here, Minister Amcaoğlu pointed out Turkey’s support in meeting the water and energy needs of the TRNC, and stated that after water transport from Turkey, 400 megawatts of energy will be transferred with an interconnected system to be built with cables to be laid between the two countries.
Stating that the Güvercinlik Organized Industrial Zone, where business people from both Turkey and the TRNC can invest, will be an important step to reach their targets in production, Amcaoğlu said:
“With contracted production, an organic link will be formed between the commercial ecosystem of Turkey and the TRNC. It is very important to complete the interconnected system that we will get the electricity we need from Turkey after the irrigation projects. We want to produce. We are building infrastructure, but we need energy. Energy must be continuous, economical and sustainable. Here we are on the eve of an important period with the project pioneered by the Republic of Türkiye. Water came to the TRNC, energy came, the airport was opened, and there is no such large and qualified airport in Southern Cyprus or Northern Cyprus. We don’t have a chance to fail anymore.”
Ankara Chamber of Commerce President Gürsel Baran drew attention to the relations between Turkey and the TRNC. Stating that they have a positive view on the contracted production model and that they can work to improve the issue, Baran said, “The TRNC has great meaning for Turkey. We are ready for any kind of cooperation to develop our trade with the TRNC.
