Expressing that it is important to hold consultations after Ertuğruloğlu’s visit to New York and Washington, Oktay stated that they have had important contacts in TRNC for 2 days.

Referring to their visits to Beyarmudu and Yiğitler and the situation in Pile, Oktay stated that the people of the region have problems in contacting their relatives and even going to buy medicine when they are sick. Oktay drew attention to the hypocrisy of those who try to teach human rights lessons at every opportunity.

Oktay said that the UN, which claims to be there to ensure peace in the region, is directed by the Greek Cypriot administration and oppresses the Turkish Cypriots, and noted that the bias of those who claim to be neutral was revealed in the road project, which is a humanitarian project.

Fuat Oktay stated that it is unacceptable for someone who claims to be a commander from the UN Peace Force to say “this is Greek Cypriot territory” during road construction in the TRNC’s own territory.

Noting that what was done was a crime, Oktay stated that they would pursue this matter and that the United Nations must identify this person and do what is necessary.

Oktay emphasized that the road issue in Pyla is a humanitarian project, such as opening Maraş to people, and said that they will try to evaluate this humanitarian dimension through diplomatic means.

Oktay pointed out the observer memberships of the TRNC and stated that they are at a crossroads regarding recognition.

Stating that they will continue to shout out to the whole world the demand for the recognition of the TRNC and the removal of embargoes, Oktay said that the days when the TRNC will be free from isolation and gain its basic human rights are near.
