Şükrü Onbaşı, President of the Cyprus Turkish Physicians Union (Tıp-İş), stated that the medicine tracking system should be implemented as soon as possible and stated that they are ready for cooperation.

In his written statement regarding prescription fraud, Corporal shared the findings and suggestions of Tip-İş as follows:

“Arranging the prescriptions of chronic patients as 3, 6 or 12 monthly prescriptions that the doctor deems appropriate for the patient, rather than month-to-month, reduces the frequency of prescriptions, citizens’ time loss and other grievances.

It is essential to eliminate the points open to abuse in the current prescription regulation system and to activate the drug tracking system as soon as possible to track the drugs entering the country until they reach the patient.

We have repeatedly stated that insured citizens cannot receive completely free service from public health centers, and that medicines that are not available in hospital pharmacies are obtained from private pharmacies for a fee. We advocated that social insurance covered drugs or insurance prescriptions should be written by all public physicians in all public health centers. In this context, we inform the Ministry of Labor that we are ready to help and cooperate, and we announce to the public that we will follow the process.”
