President Ersin Tatar accepted Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mehmet Öntürk and his accompanying delegation.
The delegation included mayors from Hatay; Altınözü Mayor Rıfat Sarı, Antakya Mayor İbrahim Naci Yapar, Belen Mayor İbrahim Gül, Kırıkhan Mayor Ömer Erdal Çelik, Yayladağı Mayor Mehmet Yalçın and Kumlu Mayor İbrahim Paç were present.

In his speech at the reception, Tatar stated that there are brotherhood ties and relations between Hatay and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and that the core values were strengthened when those who came to the country from the Hatay region after 1974 had families here.
Stating that ship voyages have started with Hatay, Tatar said, “The bridge of hearts will continue to be built with air and sea voyages.” he said.
Stating that Hatay was affected by the earthquake that occurred in Turkey on February 6 and the Turkish people experienced great pain, President Tatar expressed his wishes for Hatay to return to its old days and Hatay Airport to be operational again.
Stating that the sectors have been strengthened with the social state understanding in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus with the support of Turkey, Tatar noted that there has been peace, tranquility and security in the region where wars have occurred since 1974.
President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan: “The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is the apple of our eye.” Referring to his words, Tatar reminded that Erdoğan, at the United Nations General Assembly, called for the removal of embargoes on the TRNC, recognition of the state and increased political, diplomatic and economic relations.
Stating that Anatolia’s water came from Turkey under difficult conditions and was used in agriculture, Tatar emphasized that the reality and structure of the TRNC has become stronger and that there have been developments in tourism, higher education and service sectors.
Stating that TRNC is the essential element of the Eastern Mediterranean region, President Tatar said, “Motherland, Homeland, Blue Homeland and Sky Homeland… It is very important to keep them together for security and the future.” he said.
