President Ersin Tatar, together with his wife Sibel Tatar, received Turkish cinema artist Ediz Hun and his wife Berna Hun, who were in the country within the scope of the program organized by the Cyprus Martyrs’ Commemoration Platform on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, at the Presidency.

According to the statement made by the Presidency, President Tatar sent Ediz Hun, who came to the island to receive his award two and a half months before the Cyprus Peace Operation and visited the Turkish Cypriot Forces Regiment Command, together with his wife Berna Hun, to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. He stated that he was happy to see him.

President Tatar said, “We are very happy that you were with our people during those difficult days of the Turkish Cypriot people and that you were with us again after 50 years and shared your feelings.” He noted that Ediz Hun is one of the most distinguished artists of Turkish cinema and thanked him for his visit.

Stating that Turkish cinema was watched with great interest by the Turkish Cypriots even in the years when communication was underdeveloped, President Tatar stated that he followed Ediz Hun’s work and services on issues such as the environment, outside of cinema, and wished him good health and a long life.

Artist Ediz Hun also stated that he was happy to be in TRNC and expressed his belief that President Tatar’s successful work will continue for many years.
