President Ersin Tatar met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, Rauf Alp Denktaş, as part of his contacts in Poland.

President Tatar met with Turkish Cypriot Rauf Alp Denktaş, who started his duty in Warsaw as Turkey’s Ambassador to Poland as of October 2023, at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Warsaw.

In his speech here, President Tatar said, “One of the reasons why I visited Warsaw is to convey my respects to Polish Ambassador Denktaş, who is the grandson of our Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş.”

Stating that Ambassador Denktaş managed to become one of the most well-known and exemplary diplomats of the Republic of Turkey by serving in many positions when he started his diplomatic career in 2001 at the Department of NATO and Western European Union Affairs of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Tatar said that Ambassador Denktaş was appointed to the UN in Bucharest, Washington DC, Turkey. Denktaş, who served in different positions as the First Undersecretary in the Permanent Representation, was promoted to the post of Deputy Permanent Representative in 2018, and stated that he served both the Republic of Türkiye and his homeland. He said that he had successful services to TRNC.

Ambassador Denktaş stated that it was a great honor to host the President of the TRNC both professionally and as a person of Turkish Cypriot origin.

President Tatar received information from Ambassador Denktaş about the history and work of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, which is a member of both NATO and the EU.

During the meeting, evaluations were made regarding the Cyprus problem and global developments.
