President Ersin Tatar emphasized that the Turkish Red Crescent supports the struggle for existence and heroic resistance of the Turkish Cypriot people.
President Ersin Tatar, who issued a congratulatory message due to the 157th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Red Crescent, said that the Turkish Red Crescent was established in 1868 under the name of “Ottoman Wounded and Sick Soldiers Aid Society” and said that he had extended his help to the needy in every corner of the world without any distinction.
“Even in the most challenging periods of the Ottoman Empire, despite the impossibility of the period, the Turkish Red Crescent knew a sacred duty to help people despite the impossibility of the period,” he said.
President Tatar pointed out that the Turkish Cypriot people have suffered in the past and said that during the attacks of EOKA and Greek gangs in 1964, the Turkish Red Crescent supported the struggle for existence of the people. Tatar stated that after the 1974 Mutlu Peace Operation, the Red Crescent extended a hand not only to the Turkish Cypriots but also the Greeks, and emphasized that this attitude was an indication of our nation’s non -religious, language and racial benevolence.
President Tatar continued his message as follows:
“Today, the Turkish Red Crescent remains loyal to the historical heritage exceeding a century and has succeeded to be one of the leading non -governmental organizations that grow and develop every day. In any natural disaster, it continues its activities as a great compassion and charity organization that oppressed all over the world.”
Celebrating the 157th anniversary of the Turkish Red Crescent, President Tatar said in his message: ım I would like to express my most sincere thanks to all the Red Cypriot employees who contributed to the fact that our region and the world make a more peaceful and safe place on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot people and my state ”.
