CRepublic Assembly Economy, Finance, Budget and Planning Committeeapproved the Cyprus Foundations Administration’s 2025 budget of 500 million 986 thousand TL by majority vote.
Before discussing the budget of the Foundations Administration, the Economy, Finance, Budget and Planning Committee of the Assembly of the Republic received information from the institution officials about the financial and administrative situation of the Turkish Cypriot Electricity Company (Kıb-Tek), which is among the institutions administratively affiliated with the Prime Ministry.
Minister of Finance Özdemir Berova said that Kıb-Tek management came to the committee upon the request of CTP and informed the MPs about Kıb-Tek’s budget and other issues, and added that the discussed Kıb-Tek budget has not been approved by the Council of Ministers yet.
Berova stated that the Kıb-Tek budget, which will be discussed at the meeting to be held at the Ministry of Finance, will be revised if necessary and sent to the Council of Ministers.

Speaking about the budget of the Foundations Administration, CTP Deputy Sıla Usar İncirli noted that Evkaf is one of the most important and internationally recognized institutions of the country and touched upon the activities of Evkaf.
Stating that Evkaf has deviated from its goals for a long time, Incirli explained that the total budget of Evkaf and Religious Affairs is over 1 billion TL and is higher than the budgets of many ministries, departments and institutions.
Stating that foundations should be much more sensitive about how the money is spent, Incirli noted that the amounts of items such as personnel expenses and service purchases are very high. Incirli also asked what services were received regarding service procurement.
Stating that 45 million TL was allocated for the maintenance and repair of real estate, İncirli noted that energy expenses were also quite high.
