The exhibition titled “Karabakh Heritage”, consisting of the works of Azerbaijani painter and designer Nigar Helmi Abbasbeyli, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Employees and Spouses Association (DİMED) within the scope of the 15 November Republic Day celebration events, was opened at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

DİMED President Prof. Dr. Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, Minister of Health Hakan Dinçyürek, Sevim Çağla Serim, wife of the Republic of Turkey Ambassador to Nicosia Yasin Ekrem Serim, and many guests attended the opening of the exhibition held under the auspices of Oya Ertuğruloğlu.

At the exhibition, DİMED President Prof. Dr. Oya Ertuğruloğlu, Azerbaijani painter and designer Nigar Helmi Abbasbeyli and Sevim Çağla Serim, wife of the Republic of Turkey Ambassador to Nicosia Yasin Ekrem Serim, made speeches. After completing his speeches, DİMED President Ertuğruloğlu presented a plaque and flowers to Abbasbeyli and the exhibition was visited.

OYA ERTUĞRULOĞLU: THE PAIN AND SORRY OF KARABAKH

DİMED President Prof. made the opening speech of the exhibition themed “Karabakh Heritage”. Dr. Oya Ertuğruloğlu emphasized the importance of opening this exhibition about the liberation of Karabakh on the 41st anniversary of the founding of the TRNC.

Underlining that Azerbaijani painter Nigar Abbasbeyli has very valuable paintings, Ertuğruloğlu stated that the exhibition they opened depicts the pain and sadness in Karabakh. Ertuğruloğlu emphasized that it was meaningful for them to open this exhibition under the leadership of Nigar Abbasbeyli.

SERIM: REINFORCES BROTHERHOOD TIES

Sevim Çağla Serim, wife of Yasin Ekrem Serim, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Nicosia, started her speech by saying “Welcome” to Nigar Abbasbeyli, who came to TRNC from Azerbaijan for the opening of this exhibition. Emphasizing that Abbasbeyli, whose works have been exhibited all over the world and followed with great interest, met with the Turkish Cypriots, who are an integral part of the Turkish world, this time with his exhibition titled “The Heritage of Karabakh”, Serim said that Abbasbeyli is grateful for sharing his hard-earned works with them. He thanked .

Pointing out that such events further strengthen the existing bonds of brotherhood between countries and nations, Serim stated that they also make a significant contribution to cultural diplomacy, which is an integral part of traditional diplomacy.

Expressing his satisfaction that the number of international cultural events held in TRNC is increasing day by day, Serim said, “On this occasion, I congratulate once again the 41st anniversary of the establishment of TRNC, Mr. Abbasbeyli, DİMED President Prof. Dr. He concluded his words by saying, “I congratulate Oya Ertuğruloğlu and all DİMED members who contributed to the opening of the exhibition.”

ABBASBEYLI: NOVEMBER IS ALSO SPECIAL FOR AZERBAIJAN

Azerbaijani painter and designer Nigar Helmi Abbasbeyli also stated that she found it meaningful to open her own exhibition on the 41st anniversary of the founding of the TRNC.

Congratulating everyone who contributed, especially DİMED President Oya Ertuğruloğlu, Abbasbeyli reminded that November was very special not only for the TRNC but also for them, and that they experienced victory in the second Karabakh war 4 years ago with the great efforts of the Azerbaijani army.

Explaining that he prepared the exhibition titled “Karabakh Heritage” in a short period of 11 months, Abbasbeyli said that he tried to reflect the events he witnessed in the region for 30 years.

Reminding that Azerbaijan’s leader Haydar Aliyev called Karabakh “the pearl of Azerbaijan”, Abbasbeyli said that the region is becoming more beautiful.

Stating that he wanted to convey the barbarism in Karabakh, which was under Armenian occupation for 30 years, on canvas in his exhibition, Abbasbeyli emphasized that his collection consists of 20 paintings and his works are exhibited all over the world.

Noting that as an Azerbaijani, he aims to introduce his nation with his art and show people the truth, Abbasbeyli said that one side should not destroy the cultural heritage of the other side in wars. Abbasbeyli said, “The way for future generations to keep their country, culture and land alive is through history.”
