The delegation of the Economy, Finance, Budget and Planning Committee of the Assembly of the Republic, which held contacts in Ankara, held a meeting with the European Union Harmonization Commission of the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

Deputy Chairman of the TRNC Committee, CTP Deputy Erkut Şahali, Committee Members, UBP Deputy Alişan Şan and Hasan Küçük, CTP Deputy Salahi Şahiner, former Committee member, CTP Deputy Fikri Toros, and Parliamentary Secretary General Seral Fırat were also present in the TRNC delegation headed by UBP Deputy Resimye Eroğlu Canaltay.

In his speech here, Burhan Kayatürk, Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly European Union Harmonization Commission, said that Turkey is in favor of a permanent, fair and sustainable solution on the island.

Kayatürk pointed out that it is now seen that there is no other option than a solution based on two separate states, and noted that they expressed this belief on all platforms.

Stating that TRNC President Ersin Tatar continues to support a solution based on sovereign equality and equal international status, Kayatürk stated that they believe that observer memberships in the Organization of Turkic States and TURKPA constitute a good start for the TRNC.

President of the Republic Assembly Economy, Finance, Budget and Plan Committee, Resimye Eroğlu Canaltay, in her speech, said that the Turkish Cypriots experienced a development process after 1974 and that the Republic of Turkey has always been with them from the beginning of this process until today.

Canaltay emphasized that the promises made by the European Union and the international community during the Annan Plan process remained in the air and noted that today the Turkish Cypriot people are treated unequally.
Stating that one of the biggest problems, the lack of direct flights, is reflected in the expensive flights of tourists and foreign students coming to the country, Canaltay stated that their struggle continues despite all the biased attitudes of the EU and that they will not give up.

After the talks, the TRNC delegation visited the places bombed in the July 15 coup attempt in the Turkish Grand National Assembly and left carnations.

The delegation then visited the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Meanwhile, the name of the delegation was announced in the General Assembly and members of the Turkish Grand National Assembly greeted the delegation.

During the visits, the delegation was accompanied by GNAT Turkey-TRNC Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Chairman, AK Party Konya Deputy Orhan Erdem.
