The 10th party of the Turkish States Organization in charge of Tourism was held in Ankara with the participation of members and observer countries. Representatives from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Hungary and Türkiye attended the meeting.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu, who participated in the meeting representing the TRNC, pointed out the importance of cooperation in his speech and emphasized that the integration in the field of tourism with the Turkish world countries should be increased. Ataoğlu said that the TRNC is ready to share its experience and potential in this field.

Ataoğlu greeted the participants on behalf of the TRNC and emphasized that this strategic meeting is not only in tourism but also in terms of common history and cultural ties.

“The embargoes are not only us, but also the welfare of the region”

Reminding that the TRNC has been exposed to heavy insulation for years in his speech, Ataoğlu said that direct flight ban has been victimized in many areas such as sports, culture, art and tourism.
Ataoğlu, “These unfair embargoes not only our development, the whole region’s peace and welfare affect the negatively,” he said.

“Our potential in tourism is very high, but we are blocked”
Stating that the TRNC is an important tourism destination with its history, nature, beaches and rich cuisine, Ataoğlu said, “However, we are far below our tourism potential due to the restrictions applied”.

Minister Ataoğlu called for support to the Turkish States Organization in the following areas:

Increasing the flow of mutual tourist

Concrete Promotion Campaigns

Gaining more visibility in cultural activities to TRNC

Facilitating flight connections

Ataoğlu recalled that the TRNC is an integral part of the Turkish World and said, “The Turkish Cypriot people should not be abandoned to loneliness. This loneliness is not only harmful to us, but also in the unity and dignity of the Turkish World”.

He completed his speech with the words, “We invite you all to Northern Cyprus and we are honored to host you on this beautiful island”.
