Former President of the Assembly of the Republic, Zorlu Töre, gave a conference titled “National Issues and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” at Marmara University Faculty of Political Sciences Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Campus in Istanbul.

According to the information given by the Assembly of the Republic, former Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic, Zorlu Töre, stated in his speech that they were celebrating the 41st anniversary of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and said “Mashallah 41 times”.

Explaining the importance of the Turkish Union, Töre said that the Turkish Cypriot people are an integral part of the Turkish world.

Töre noted that the Cyprus issue is not a cause that belongs only to the Turkish Cypriots, but is a national cause of the Turkish nation.

Stating that the Heroic Turkish Army came to Cyprus both by sea and air at dawn on July 20, 1974, Töre included the following statements in his speech:

“The Turkish Army is not a guest on the Island. They came there as guarantors, but Mehmetçik also owns Cyprus. Because Mujahideen and Mehmetçik gave their blood and died for those lands. Neither America nor the European Union nor Russia nor the United Nations Security Council gifted those lands to us. Who gave it as a gift? Our dear martyrs and heroic veterans gave it as gifts. And our duty is to protect the TRNC and the state until the end. “This is our debt to our martyrs, our debt to the generations after us, our debt to our nation, our debt to history.”
