Within the framework of the TRNC Highways Master Plan, the Highways Department under the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Highways of the Republic of Turkey, conducts traffic flow counting throughout the country.

According to the information provided by the Ministry, mechanisms consisting of thin plastic pipes and vehicle counting devices to which these pipes are connected were placed at various points of the highway network for traffic flow counting, carried out together with the expert teams of the General Directorate of Highways of the Republic of Turkey.

Thanks to the devices placed at 72 points across the country, it will be determined which road is used by how many cars, and this data will provide preliminary information to the Highways Department on how the highway network should be expanded.

Traffic flow counting studies started on November 4 and will continue until November 22.
