Turkey’s Embassy in Nicosia donated a fully equipped, multi-seater vehicle to the Turkish Cypriot Federation of Disabled Persons, following the Launch of the Action Plan of the 1st Disability Rights Workshop at the Presidency.

Turkey’s Ambassador to Nicosia, Yasin Ekrem Serim, said in his statement: “We must work harder to find solutions to the problems of our disabled brothers and sisters and improve their living standards, and we must strive as much as possible to keep social awareness on this issue at the highest level.”

Ambassador Serim underlined that it is essential for the public to take initiative and lead in order for disabled individuals to fully and smoothly participate in social life.

Serim said, “As the Republic of Türkiye, we extend the same hand to our disabled brothers as we do to all segments of the Turkish Cypriot people. We carefully examine all kinds of projects submitted to us by our associations in TRNC. “We will continue to give priority to all feasible projects,” he said.

Stating that the car they delivered to the Federation of Disabled People will make it easier for disabled people to travel comfortably, Ambassador Serim stated that they will donate another well-equipped vehicle to the Barrier-Free Life House.

President Ersin Tatar also made a statement regarding the vehicle grant. Stating that the Motherland continues its aid as in every field, Tatar underlined that there are 6 thousand disabled people in the country and it is important for the state to create opportunities for these issues.
