President Ersin Tatar, President of the Turkish Red Crescent Prof. Dr. Fatma Meriç Yılmaz received the President of the Cyprus Turkish Red Crescent Sezai Sezen, the Secretary General Hasan Karaokçu and the accompanying delegation.

The President’s Special Adviser Gökhan Güler and Non-Governmental Organizations Coordinator Latif Akça took part in the reception.

President Ersin Tatar, in his speech at the reception, stated that the Turkish Red Crescent is always with the Turkish Cypriots in their difficult times, and that the Turkish Red Crescent has made important collaborations with the Red Crescent in Cyprus for the Turkish Cypriots who had to live in tents during the years of struggle.

Explaining that the earthquake that occurred on February 6 in Turkey was a great disaster and that the Red Crescent was carrying out important works, President Tatar wished mercy to those who lost their lives due to the earthquake.

Pointing out that the Red Crescent regularly organizes a blood donation campaign in our country and gives an iftar meal in Ramadan, President Tatar drew attention to the fact that the Red Crescent in Cyprus should always be strong and ready for a possible natural disaster and undesirable events.

Pointing out the importance of creating resources, joining forces and forming good teams, President Tatar noted that the Turkish Cypriot Red Crescent is always ready for duty and cooperation for humanity in any part of the world.

Explaining that the TRNC has taken its place in the Organization of Turkish States, President Tatar emphasized that the Red Crescent should be strengthened in these countries as well as the Organization of Islamic Countries and other countries, and that it is ready to participate in studies with the institutions of the TRNC.

Congratulating the new board of directors of the Turkish Red Crescent, President Tatar wished Fatma Meriç Yılmaz’s presidency to be beneficial.

Turkish Red Crescent President Prof. Dr. Fatma Meriç Yılmaz also said in her speech that they made their first overseas visit to the TRNC after the general assembly.

Yılmaz stated that they transferred a mobile vehicle to the Turkish Cypriot Red Crescent and noted that they aim to establish a Young Red Crescent in the TRNC and reach a thousand people in 6 months.
