According to this information, write a new article in English:
A written statement was made from the National Unity Party Headquarters regarding the Pile-Yiğitler road.
In the statement, it was stated that “We do not accept the efforts of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force to prevent the road project, which is carried out in order for our citizens living in Pile to benefit humanely from their rights of transportation and which is the product of no other thought than humanitarian reasons.”
“Those who allow road and gate projects that only take care of the needs of the Greek people living in Pile, but who do not show the same goodwill when it comes to Turkish Cypriots, should know that; The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, together with all its institutions, will continue to stand by our people living in Pile.” In the statement used, it was said:
“The project of widening the road between Pile and Yigitler, initiated by our Government, whose sole purpose is to enable our people to pass to the village of Pile without being dependent on the British Sovereign Base Areas, is a completely humanitarian project.
It is not possible for us to accept that this project is tried to be blocked by the UN Peacekeeping Force. The UN applies double standards in this issue, as in all other issues.
Greek Cypriots living in Pile can freely travel to and from the Greek Cypriot Administration without going through any border/customs control and are not subjected to any restrictive practices by the British Sovereign Base Area authorities.
We will no longer tolerate the pro-Greek and one-sided attitudes of the British Sovereign Base Area officials who only care about the living standard of the Greeks.
The negotiations carried out by our Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the UN Peacekeeping Force, which remained silent on the various violations committed by the Greek Cypriot side in the buffer zone, including road constructions, on the Pile – Yiğitler road, whose humanitarian dimension has been brought to the agenda by us, have been inconclusive due to this double standard.
We will also ignore those who ignore the existence and sovereignty of the Turkish Cypriot side on the island. It should be known that the TRNC is a sovereign state and the welfare and interests of our people are at the forefront for us. We expect the UN Peacekeeping Force, which continues its activities on the island with our consent, to adopt a constructive and cooperative stance in this regard.
It is a matter of fairness that our government’s calls on this issue should be taken into account.
