Minister of Labor and Social Security Sadık Gardiyanoğlu said in the ‘Headline+’ program he attended on BRT that they will take important steps in occupational safety and health in 2025.

Expressing his sadness about the fatal work accidents, Gardiyanoğlu said that the criticisms directed at him by some people on this issue were unfair.

“These people, no matter what their nationality, are under our social security,” said Gardiyanoğlu, reminding that he is also someone from the private sector, and added, “I ate the same food as these people for years, got wet in the same rain and sweated in the same sun.”

Minister Gardiyanoğlu stated that they set out with “zero fatal work accidents” for 2025 and that they started to take serious measures by further increasing the existing measures.

Stating that the Council of Ministers approved the recruitment of 12 new inspectors, Gardiyanoğlu noted that the number of inspectors, which is currently 22, has thus reached 34.

Emphasizing that they will leave no place untouched and uninspected, from Yeşilırmak to Karpaz, from Esentepe to Akıncılar, Gardiyanoğlu said that with the new regulation made on a sectoral basis, workplaces will be monitored on a sectoral basis.

Gardiyanoğlu said, “Sectors with high business risk will have to upload occupational health and safety reports to the system regularly every month, starting from January. Those with secondary business risk will upload their reports to our portal every 2 months, and those with third degree business risk will upload their reports every 3 months. “20 thousand workplaces across the country will be inspected through the system every month,” he said.

Announcing that they will completely abolish working on Sundays in the construction industry, Gardiyanoğlu said that employees will be provided with the opportunity to rest at least one day a week.

Minister Gardiyanoğlu pointed out the ban that is still in force and noted that they will remove the permits given in some cases and that construction work will not be carried out on Sundays.

Underlining that they will implement a very serious inspection process regarding occupational health and safety, Gardiyanoğlu said, “I have never asked my inspectors who wrote fines why they wrote fines, and I will not ask from now on either. “If we do not impose this penalty today, the cost may be a life tomorrow,” he said.
