BAY-SEN: BRT Builds a Voice for Turkish Cypriots
BAY-SEN President Expresses Dedication on the 60th Anniversary of BRT
The Bayrak Radio and Television Corporation Employees Union (BAY-SEN) recently commemorated the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the BRT, emphasizing its significance as the voice of the Turkish Cypriot community.
President of BAY-SEN, İbrahim Kanat, reflected on the history of BRT, noting that it was established by a small group of heroes and has since grown to operate 3 television channels and 6 radio stations. Kanat also praised the dedicated staff who have elevated the institution to its current standing, despite facing challenges.
However, Kanat pointed out that the Bayrak Radio and Television Corporation Law, which has remained unchanged since 1993, has become dysfunctional. He highlighted that the number of permanent personnel working under this law has decreased to just 46.
In light of these issues, Kanat emphasized the importance of a collective labor agreement to address the problems within the institution. He expressed the union’s commitment to working ambitiously to ensure the prosperity of BRT for many more years to come.
As BRT celebrates its 60th anniversary, Kanat extended his heartfelt congratulations, underlining the union’s unwavering dedication to the institution.
