Integration of Locally Produced Ammunition and Systems to Bayraktar Akıncı TİHA Continues Successfully
The integration of locally produced new ammunition and systems to the Bayraktar Akıncı TİHA, developed by Baykar within the framework of the Bayraktar Akıncı Project, is progressing successfully. Today, a test firing was conducted with the Precision Guidance Kit (HGK), which was developed nationally by TÜBİTAK SAGE, and it was completed successfully.
The Bayraktar Akıncı took off from the Akıncı Flight Training and Test Center in Tekirdağ’s Çorlu district with the MK-82 ammunition guided by the HGK. It proceeded to the designated point to conduct the firing test. The HGK-82 fired by the Bayraktar Akıncı successfully hit the determined target.
This marked the first test fire of the HGK-82 ammunition from an unmanned aerial vehicle, as part of the integration of new ammunition and systems. The Bayraktar Akıncı TİHA’s capabilities have been enhanced with this new addition to its ammunition.
In other news, Baykar, through a competitive process, secured an export contract worth $370 million for the Bayraktar TB2. The agreement was signed with the Kuwait Ministry of Defense, putting Baykar ahead of its American, European, and Chinese competitors. With the export to Romania, Bayraktar TB2 SİHAs have now been integrated into the inventories of four NATO member countries and two EU member countries.
Baykar has been self-funding all its projects since the beginning and has achieved 75% of its revenues from exports since 2003. In 2021, it became the top exporter in the defense and aerospace industry, according to the Turkish Exporters Assembly. In 2022, Baykar recorded a 99.3% export rate with contracts worth $1.18 billion. The company’s turnover in 2022 reached $1.4 billion. Export agreements for Bayraktar TB2 SİHA have been signed with 30 countries, while agreements for Bayraktar Akıncı TİHA have been signed with six countries.
