Beirut bombing reveals Israel’s disregard for ceasefire calls

Prime Minister Mikati Condemns Israeli Air Attacks on Beirut
Prime Minister Mikati, currently in New York attending the United Nations General Assembly, has spoken out against a series of air attacks carried out by Israel in the Dahiye region of Beirut. In a written statement, Mikati expressed his concern over the casualties caused by these attacks, which he obtained through information provided by the Lebanese Chief of General Staff, General Joseph Avn.
Mikati emphasized that the latest attack by Israel demonstrates a disregard for international calls for a ceasefire and called on the international community to hold Israel accountable for its actions. He demanded an end to Israel’s genocidal war against Lebanon.
According to reports from Lebanon’s official agency NNA, Israeli warplanes conducted multiple bombings in the Dahiye region, targeting buildings from Burj al-Baracine to Hureky District, causing widespread destruction and loss of life. The attacks are part of the ongoing conflict between the Israeli army and Hezbollah, with Hezbollah responding to the airstrikes with missile attacks of their own.
The Israeli army has carried out hundreds of air strikes in southern cities and regions of Lebanon, leading to the death of 773 people and the displacement of nearly 150 thousand individuals within the country. The situation has led to a significant wave of migration from the affected areas to safer parts of the country, including Beirut and even across the border into Syria.
As the violence escalates, Prime Minister Mikati’s call for international intervention and condemnation of Israel’s actions highlights the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The people of Lebanon continue to suffer as the attacks persist, underscoring the importance of ending the cycle of violence and seeking a sustainable solution through diplomatic means.
