Benedict Cumberbatch takes up residence at Madame Tussauds Budapest – photos revealed
Benedict Cumberbatch, known for his iconic roles as Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Strange, has recently become the newest resident of Madame Tussauds Budapest. The wax figure of the talented English actor has been unveiled at the museum in Dorottya Street and will be on display for the next few months.
The unveiling ceremony of Cumberbatch’s wax figure was attended by the Embassy of the United Kingdom and the Hungarian British Chamber of Commerce, adding a touch of British flair to the event. Kornél Simon, Cumberbatch’s permanent Hungarian dubbing voice, also had the opportunity to meet the figure in person.
Cumberbatch himself was actively involved in the creation of his wax figure, even going as far as attaching strands of hair to its head. Each Madame Tussauds wax figure is meticulously crafted over several months in a special studio near London, with the participation of skilled craftsmen and artists.
The British actor, who is also known for his role in Wes Anderson’s award-winning film “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar,” is not only a talented performer but a versatile individual. Fluent in six languages, Cumberbatch has volunteered as an English teacher in a Tibetan monastery in India and frequently lends his voice to various projects, including video games, documentaries, commercials, and radio programs.
Visitors to Madame Tussauds Budapest will have the opportunity to sit next to Cumberbatch’s wax figure on an armchair and interact with interactive panels. The actor, who was appointed a CBE in 2015 for his contributions to the performing arts and charitable activities, continues to captivate audiences with his diverse range of talents.
According to Zsuzsanna Óhidi, Operational Director of Madame Tussauds Budapest, the arrival of Benedict Cumberbatch’s wax figure adds an exciting new element to the museum. The unique, 130-square-meter LED wall of the Cinema Café has been transformed into an English library room to provide guests with an authentic backdrop for photos with the British star.
Overall, Benedict Cumberbatch’s presence at Madame Tussauds Budapest promises to be a highlight for fans of the actor and visitors to the museum alike.
