Beware of Scammers Selling Budapest Tickets and Passes
Beware of Fraudsters Posing as Employees of Budapest Public Transport Company
Tickets and passes for public transport in Budapest can only be purchased at official sales points or online. However, the Budapest Center for Budapest Transport (BKK) has recently received reports of fraudsters posing as employees of the company in busy public spaces in the city.
These scammers have been trying to trick unsuspecting users by offering them tickets or passes for sale at reduced prices. In many cases, victims received nothing in return, while in other instances they were given invalid tickets or passes.
BKK wants to emphasize that the company does not sell products in this manner. Tickets and passes can only be purchased at official sales points displayed in the BKK Sales Point Finder or online through the BudapestGO application.
To avoid falling victim to fraud, BKK urges customers to exercise caution when purchasing tickets and passes and to only do so through official channels. This includes using the BudapestGO app or visiting designated sales points listed on the BKK Sales Point Finder.
Additionally, passengers traveling to and from Liszt Ferenc Airport should be aware that tickets for the 100E Airport Express are not sold by mobile vendors at the airport. These tickets can be purchased through the BudapestGO app, at BKK Customer Service Centers, or directly on the 100E buses using the Budapest Pay&GO devices.
