The statement highlighted the following instances of fraudulent activities:
– Creation of fake accounts on social media to deceive individuals with false promises of gift certificates or winning mobile phone raffles.
– Placing fake advertisements for white goods at affordable prices and obtaining money by requesting credit card information or transferring money to given bank account numbers.
In light of these threats, the police urged the public to exercise caution when making purchases over the internet or through mobile phones.
