Bird’s Nest Discovery in Salamis Forests

The Always Friends of Nature Group recently organized a bird nest placement event in Salamis Forests to help control the population of pine processionary beetles. This event, supported by various environmental organizations including Tashkent Nature Park, Karpaz Friends Association, Cyprus Wetland Community, and Social Existence Association, aimed to combat the harmful insects that threaten the forests.

The event kicked off at 07:00 with a speech from the President of Always Friends of Nature, Yusuf Şentuğ. He emphasized the importance of placing bird nests to attract tit birds, which are natural enemies of the pine processionary insects. The goal is to create a natural balance in the ecosystem and protect the forests from further damage.

After Yusuf Şentuğ’s opening speech, Asuman Korukoğlu provided information about tit birds and their role in controlling insect populations. The participants then proceeded to place bird nests on the trees in the Salamis Forests.

The event was a success, thanks to the collaboration of various environmental organizations and the dedication of volunteers. By working together to protect the forests and promote biodiversity, these groups are making a positive impact on the local environment. This initiative serves as a reminder of the importance of conservation efforts and the power of community action in preserving our natural world.
