Birds receive first aid treatment at Kızılırmak Delta Bird Sanctuary

The Wild Animals First Aid Unit in the Kızılırmak Delta Bird Paradise, operated by the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, has been making a significant impact since its reopening one and a half months ago. This unit, which had been closed for five years, is now providing essential healing to wild animals, particularly migratory birds found injured within the bird sanctuary.

The Kızılırmak Delta Bird Sanctuary, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site on the Temporary List, is home to a diverse array of bird species. Unfortunately, some of these birds suffer injuries due to various reasons, and it is heartening to know that the Wild Animals First Aid Unit is there to provide the necessary treatment.

In just a month and a half, the unit has successfully treated 45 migratory birds with injuries in different parts of their bodies, releasing them back into nature after completing the necessary care. The clinic is well-equipped to handle all types of interventions, including the care of baby birds, ensuring that they are able to return to their natural habitat safely.

Currently, the clinic is continuing its treatment of 12 storks, 7 barn owls, 1 seagull, 1 carrier pigeon, and 1 land tortoise. The dedicated team at the Wild Animals First Aid Unit is working tirelessly to ensure the well-being of these wild animals and contribute to their conservation efforts.

It is truly inspiring to see the positive impact of the Wild Animals First Aid Unit in the Kızılırmak Delta Bird Paradise, and it serves as a reminder of the importance of caring for our wildlife and natural habitats. We commend the efforts of the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality in reopening this essential facility and look forward to hearing more success stories in the future.
