Bitlis Bans Public Demonstrations for 5 Days

The Governorship of Bitlis has issued a statement regarding the current events that have been taking place in the country and around the world. The statement highlighted that various non-governmental organizations, political parties, unions, associations, and individuals have been organizing press releases and public gatherings to shed light on certain issues and influence public opinion.
It was emphasized in the statement that such activities are often exploited by terrorist organizations and left-wing groups for their own agendas. The statement warned of potential illegal actions by terrorist sympathizers, radical groups, and marginalized individuals in Bitlis in response to recent events.
To maintain public order and safety, the Governorship announced that certain measures have been put in place to prevent potential attacks, protect citizens’ lives and property, and curb the influence of terrorist organizations. Specifically, from October 10 to October 14, all demonstration marches, public meetings, and protest actions within the geographical borders of Bitlis will be closely monitored and regulated in accordance with the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911.
Furthermore, entry and exit to the provinces and districts of Bitlis will be restricted during this period to prevent individuals from participating in any illegal activities or protests related to the aforementioned issues. The statement concluded by stressing the importance of upholding fundamental rights and freedoms while maintaining social peace and stability in the region.
