Bodrum’s Record-Breaking 100-Meter Anchovy Tail
The 8th Anchovy Festival in Bodrum, Turkey, was an enormous success this year, attracting thousands of people to Iskele Square in the heart of the city. With a queue for delicious anchovy dishes exceeding 100 meters, the festival was a lively and vibrant event.
The festival, organized by the Bodrum Peninsula Black Sea Culture and Solidarity Association with support from the Bodrum Municipality, saw the distribution of a whopping 3 tons of anchovies prepared with cornflour. This attracted a large number of people who were eager to try this local delicacy.
In addition to the mouthwatering anchovy dishes, the festival also showcased traditional foods at various stands set up in the square, promoting the rich culinary culture of the region. The event also featured six Black Sea artists who entertained the crowd with hours of music, including horon dances accompanied by kemenche and tulum.
The festival was attended by Bodrum District Governor Mustafa Çit, CHP Muğla Deputy Süreyya Öneş Derici, AK Party Bodrum Mayor Candidate Mehmet Tosun, CHP Bodrum Mayor Candidate Tamer Mandalinci, as well as political party representatives and thousands of people from all over the region.
In his speech at the event, Governor Çit expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the festival and emphasized the importance of such cultural events in promoting local traditions and bringing people together.
