Bomb Threat: Divorcing Spouse Targeted in Terrifying Incident
The recent incidents in Sultangazi district have shed light on a dangerous plot that was uncovered by diligent police work. On Monday, September 16, a junk dealer discovered a homemade explosive on the street and promptly reported it to the authorities. Bomb disposal experts quickly arrived on the scene and safely neutralized the device, preventing a potential disaster.
Further investigations led by teams from the Istanbul Police Department Intelligence Branch Directorate and TEM units revealed a connection between this homemade explosive and a previous attack on a house with a long-barreled weapon on September 9. Tracing back the steps of the perpetrators, the authorities uncovered a plot carried out by SK, AO, YI, and EB on the orders of a wanted member of the PKK/KCK terrorist organization named Bilal İ., who is currently located abroad.
It was discovered that Bilal İ., who is illegally residing abroad, was in the midst of a divorce process with his wife in Turkey. Disagreements between them led him to order these attacks in an attempt to intimidate his spouse. The suspects had intended to place the explosive in his wife’s car but abandoned the plan when they realized they were being followed by the police.
In a well-coordinated operation on September 19, the authorities managed to apprehend all suspects involved in these incidents. During the raid, they seized an AK-47 type Kalashnikov long-barreled weapon, a pistol, and 93 bullets. Additionally, two other individuals, B.Ö.O. and O.Ş., were caught for their involvement in hiding these weapons.
A total of 6 suspects were taken into custody and interrogated before being brought to court. While 2 suspects were placed under judicial control, the remaining 4 were arrested and sent to prison. The successful operation conducted by law enforcement agencies has prevented a potentially dangerous situation and ensured that those responsible for these acts of violence are brought to justice.
