Tragic Landslide in Samsun Claims Lives of Father and Two Children
In a heartbreaking incident late last night, a landslide occurred on the Samsun-Army road near a shopping center, resulting in the tragic deaths of a father and his two children. The event took place around 11:00 PM, with reports indicating that rock fragments fell onto a car wash where the family was present.
Emergency services, including AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority), firefighters, police, and medical teams, quickly responded to the scene. They managed to extract the father, identified as Ak, and his two children from the debris. Unfortunately, they were pronounced dead after being transported to Samsun Training and Research Hospital. The mother, Ç.K., suffered injuries and is currently receiving treatment for fractures.
Samsun Governor Orhan Tavli confirmed that the family of four was at the car wash when the landslide occurred. He stated, "We have delivered our mother to the hospital. There are fractures in her foot. The father and two children were removed from under the debris and taken to the hospital. Thankfully, there are no other victims under the rubble."
Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç expressed his condolences and confirmed that a judicial investigation has been initiated by the Samsun Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. "This incident has deeply upset us. We are conducting a thorough investigation into all aspects of what happened," he stated.
As the community mourns this tragic loss, many are calling for increased safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future. The local authorities are urging residents to remain cautious, especially in areas prone to landslides and similar natural disasters.
