British Doctor Mosley vanishes in Greece, known for popular ‘intermittent fasting’ diets
Michael Mosley, a prominent British television doctor known for promoting intermittent fasting as a way to lose weight, recently made headlines after he got lost while walking on the Greek island of Symi during his holiday.
The incident occurred when Mosley’s wife went for a walk alone from St Nicolas beach on Wednesday afternoon. Concerned that he had not returned by 7:30 in the evening, she alerted the Greek police. In response, a large-scale search and rescue operation was launched on the island, which is located on the eastern side of the Aegean Sea near the coast of Datça.
The search effort involved various organizations and individuals, including the police, fire brigade, civil defense personnel, volunteers, a sniffer dog, unmanned aerial vehicles, and a helicopter. Mosley, 67, is well-known in the UK for his 5:2 diet, where individuals restrict their calorie intake two days a week and maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen on the remaining five days.
In addition to his work on healthy eating and weight loss, Mosley has also been recognized for his ‘Fast 800’ diet program, which involves consuming 800 calories per day for at least two weeks. He is a regular contributor to British television and radio programs, writes a column for the Daily Mail newspaper, and has authored several diet books.
Mosley has been featured in various television shows such as ‘Who made England fat?’ and ‘Trust me, I am a Doctor’, where he has been known to participate in experiments. In one episode of ‘Infested!’ for the BBC, he even lived with tapeworms in his intestines for six weeks as part of a documentary on living with parasites.
Married to Clare Bailey, also a doctor, author, and health columnist, Mosley was previously honored as ‘medical journalist of the year’ by the British Medical Association. Thankfully, after a search effort, Mosley was found safe and sound, bringing relief to his family, friends, and fans alike.
