Increase in Financial Contribution for Muhtars Signed by Council of Ministers
In a long-awaited decision, the Council of Ministers has signed off on an increase in financial contribution for muhtars, which has been a demand for many years. The decision has been sent to the Assembly of the Republic for approval.
Under the new decision, the financial contribution of 75% of the monthly minimum wage, which is currently made to muhtars within the scope of the Law on Village and Neighborhood Councils of Elders, has been increased to 95%. This adjustment takes into account the current economic conditions and aims to better support the expenses of muhtars, including those related to water, electricity, and telephone.
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel emphasized the crucial role of muhtars in democracy, highlighting that they are the direct link between the public and the government. He expressed the government’s commitment to fulfilling promises made to muhtars since coming into office, stating that they are pleased to be delivering on this commitment.
The increase in financial support, according to Üstel, is a reflection of the economic conditions and the valuable service provided by muhtars. The monthly financial support will now be provided at 95% of the minimum wage, providing much-needed relief for muhtars.
This decision signals a positive step towards better supporting muhtars and acknowledging their important role in society. It is hoped that the Assembly of the Republic will give prompt approval to the decision, allowing for its immediate implementation.
