Minister of Economy and Energy Olgun Amcaoğlu Sets Ambitious Goals for TRNC Tourism
Minister of Economy and Energy Olgun Amcaoğlu recently highlighted the importance of increasing the tourism bed capacity in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) from 27 thousand to 50 thousand. He also stressed the goal of raising the annual occupancy rate to 66 percent, viewing this achievement as a significant success for the government.
Amcaoğlu made these remarks at the Türkiye – TRNC Chamber of Commerce Forum, Turkey TRNC II Economy Conference, where he outlined the key priorities in the field of trade within TRNC. The Minister emphasized the Ministry’s focus on boosting exports of high-value products and services, investing in human capital, enhancing innovation capacity, and implementing effective governance models.
One of the primary objectives set by Minister Amcaoğlu is to leverage TRNC’s tourism potential by increasing the bed capacity and occupancy rates, in conjunction with the income generated from the 110 thousand university students in the region. By combining these resources, the government aims to enhance the overall quality and competitiveness of TRNC’s tourism sector.
