BRTK Hosts Strength Road Run Award Ceremony
President Ersin Tatar emphasized the importance of sovereignty for the TRNC in a recent speech, stating that returning to the negotiation table is impossible without accepting existing sovereignty. He made these remarks during the award ceremony of the 16km “Strength Road Run” on August 1st, organized in honor of Social Resistance Day.
The ceremony, held at the Cyprus TMT Mujahideen Association, was attended by various prominent figures including President Tatar, President of the Republic Assembly Zorlu Töre, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Security Forces Commander Major General Osman Aytaç, and Deputy Security Forces Commander Brigadier General Kadir Bayraklı.
Celal Bayar, President of the Cyprus TMT Mujahideen Association, reflected on the historical significance of August 1st as the anniversary of the establishment of the legendary Resistance Organization. He highlighted the pivotal role TMT played in the Turkish Cypriot people’s struggle for independence.
President Tatar spoke about the victories achieved by Turkish Cypriots and the Turkish nation in August, noting the establishment of key institutions like TMT and the Security Forces Command. He emphasized the TRNC’s status as an independent Turkish state and its importance in the Mediterranean region.
Furthermore, Tatar reaffirmed the Turkish Cypriots’ right to sovereignty and emphasized the importance of Turkey’s support in national politics. He stated that the current national policy of seeking a two-state solution reflects the Turkish Cypriot people’s aspirations for independence.
During the award ceremony, winners of the various age categories in the “Strength Road Run” were recognized, with President Tatar and other officials presenting the awards.
President Tatar’s remarks underscore the TRNC’s commitment to defending its sovereignty and pursuing a future based on peace, security, and independence. The event served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by past generations and the ongoing struggle for recognition in the international arena.
