BRTK rejects forming strategic partnership with Greek Cypriots
The National Unity Party (UBP) Secretary General, Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, has voiced strong criticisms against the United States for its actions in Cyprus. Hasipoğlu denounced the US for ignoring the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and establishing a strategic partnership with the Greek Cypriots, turning Southern Cyprus into a military base for its own interests in the Middle East.
In a written statement, Hasipoğlu condemned the United States and called for a correction of their mistake. He emphasized that Turkey and the TRNC have the capability to thwart the ambitions of the US and the Greek Cypriots, and that necessary actions will be taken in this regard.
Hasipoğlu pointed out the flawed foreign policy of the US, citing their arming of Greece against Turkey and now transforming Southern Cyprus into a military facility. He expressed his disapproval of the US prioritizing the Greek Cypriots over the TRNC and urged them to reconsider their actions.
The Secretary General called on the US to recognize the TRNC and engage in separate relations if a solution cannot be reached between the TRNC and the Greek Cypriots. Hasipoğlu warned that the US’s policies against Turkey and the TRNC will not lead to any favorable outcomes in terms of economic resources and regional security.
In conclusion, Hasipoğlu urged the United States to reassess their approach to Cyprus and consider the Turkish side in their decision-making processes. If the US continues on its current path, he emphasized that the TRNC and Turkey will take further steps to protect their interests in the region.
