President Ersin Tatar Receives Turkish Combat Veterans Association
President Ersin Tatar of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus recently received a delegation from the Turkish Combat Veterans Association Sapanca Sakarya Branch, known as the Cyprus Veterans. The meeting took place in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation and celebrated the Turkish presence in Cyprus.
During the reception, President Tatar expressed his happiness at having the Cyprus Peace Operation Veterans in the country. He also emphasized the importance of commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey, stating that it is a moment to share in Turkey’s success, prosperity, and happiness for the future.
President Tatar highlighted the significance of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the last Turkish state established in the Eastern Mediterranean. He emphasized that the state thrives with the support of the motherland, the Republic of Turkey. President Tatar also stressed the desire to leave a hopeful homeland for future generations by protecting their rights and laws in the blue homeland and airspace.
The president acknowledged Turkey’s longstanding support for the Turkish Cypriots, noting how the Turkish soldiers came to Cyprus on July 20, 1974, bringing freedom and independence to the Turkish Cypriots. He highlighted the strong connection between the Mehmetçik and Mujahid as the foundation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
President Tatar also mentioned his recent meeting with President İlham Aliyev of Azerbaijan during his visit to the country. He expressed his gratitude for the support received and stated that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will benefit from further development in relations with Azerbaijan.
Regarding the Cyprus issue, President Tatar outlined a new policy for a solution that entails the cooperation of two separate sovereign states. This policy aims to prevent the Turkish Cypriots from becoming a minority, ensure that Turkey remains involved in Cyprus, and prevent Cyprus from becoming a Hellenic State.
President Tatar concluded by expressing his appreciation for the support of the Republic of Turkey in various fields, including the international community, economic mobilization, tourism, education, industry, and communication.
The representatives from the Turkish Combat Veterans Association Sapanca Sakarya Branch and the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces Veterans Association also expressed their gratitude for the reception. They acknowledged the sacrifices made by the veterans and expressed their happiness in meeting with President Tatar.
Next year, the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation will be celebrated, serving as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the veterans and martyrs. President Tatar commemorated the occasion by expressing his heartfelt congratulations and respect for those who have passed away.
The meeting between President Tatar and the Cyprus Veterans symbolizes the strong bond between the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Turkey, as well as their commitment to preserving the peace and prosperity of the region.
