Budapest Beer Festival: 250+ Beverages in Downtown
The Downtown Beer Festival in Budapest is set to take place from September 3 to 8 at Liberty Square, offering a wide selection of over 250 types of beer. This festival aims to revive the trend of quality beer consumption among the younger generation by showcasing craft specialties from Hungarian breweries and international beer from importers.
Despite a decrease in beer consumption in Hungary from 100 liters per person per year to around 70 liters, the small-scale/craft beer segment is thriving. Small breweries, known for their premium and super-premium products, continue to innovate and attract consumers who prioritize quality over quantity.

At last year’s festival, attendees had the opportunity to taste hundreds of beers from 50 exhibitors, and this year’s event promises an even broader selection. The official drink of the festival, Festival Hippie, is a light domestic IPA made with hops from Germany, America, and Australia, providing a unique and flavorful experience for beer enthusiasts.
